The Two Year Mark, Part 1

The two-year mark at the studio comes at quite the unprecedented time in our world's history.

Although there is so much reason to celebrate the little victories in my life and business, these moments, which are usually bright and colorful, have dark shades of tan and gray to tone them down, as COVID-19 has ravaged the world and changed everyone's way of living.

The past month I've pondered a lot about how best to handle, well, everything regarding this pandemic. And the common theme that kept repeating my brain is to seek all that is good, true, and beautiful, and share that with others on a daily basis. In short, send out colors of red, purple, blue, and green amidst the grays, blacks, and browns.

So for the past 30 days or so, I've been finding lovely and fun things to send out via social media to friends and relatives, and I will continue this trend until businesses and school begin to reopen.

In taking a brief look back at what I've been finding and sharing with others, three common themes have popped up:

1. Faith - many of my posts focused on Bible verses, prayer, Lent, Holy Week, and Easter. Despite the chaos, we have God who will sustain us.

Psalm 71:19-21 English Standard Version (ESV)

19 Your righteousness, O God, reaches the high heavens. You who have done great things, O God, who is like you? 20 You who have made me see many troubles and calamities will revive me again; from the depths of the earth you will bring me up again. 21 You will increase my greatness and comfort me again.

2. Music - other posts consists of music I've been listening to (such as the Met Opera) or playing. I worked on some quick recording takes for our grandmothers, so they could enjoy some hymns around the Easter season.

3. Fun - fun calls with friends and family, fun books, fun movies, fun and wholesome TV shows (no Tiger King for this girl)! There's something to be said to telling yourself that the work for the day is enough and to spend time relaxing and escaping for a moment.

On next week's blog, I'll reflect on the goals achieved in the studio over the past two years, as well as the brewing ambitions that lay in store for next year! Stay tuned!
